BoardLinks is a network that has been established to provide more opportunities for women to be appointed to their first board, to launch and further their directorship careers, and increase the number of potential candidates for Australian Government boards.
Message from the Prime Minister
The contribution of women to leadership in Australia is so important to our nation’s future. There are however still areas of our society where women are underrepresented – and in turn, where women’s talents aren’t fully appreciated.
I particularly hope that there soon will be more women around Australia’s boardroom tables.
The Government is committed to achieving our target of 40 percent women on Australian Government boards by 2015, and we are on track to achieve this. Private sector boards are an important area where women could contribute much more.
BoardLinks is a network to support women into positions of leadership and particularly to expand the number of women leaders in corporate Australia. So the first focus of BoardLinks will be on appointing women to their first board. And it will provide networking and mentoring opportunities for women across Australia.
I look forward to watching the Network grow.
Best wishes,
Julia Gillard
Prime Minister
